A CITY IN FOUR PARTS AND OTHER FILMS 2009 – 2019
This is a DVD collection of my short films from the last ten years, featuring 16 films digitally remastered in 2 & 4 K.
In the Autumn Before the Winter Comes Man’s Last Mad Surge of Youth (2019) Optically printed fragments of film I shot during the Autumn months. A Beginning a Middle and an End (2013) This film was made from hand painted sections of four footage. A City in Four Parts (2016) This film was made from a single one hundred foot roll of film, printed 4 times. Each section of film represents a city, A Winter Song (2019) This film was made from images shot during the winter months in Seattle. An Afternoon at Oyster Bay (2016) I made this film from found footage of a family vacation to Oyster Bay in 1922 Me and My Friend (2016) I made this film on an evening out with my dear friend Kirsten McCory. A Film Containing Trees (2017) This was the first film I shot with my newly acquired Arriflex 16S. I shot this film from the deck of my home of the trees. The Colors of Boulder in the Summer (2015) I shot this film during a trip to Boulder Colorado in the summer of 1997. It sat on a shelf in my studio until early 2015 when the film was finally realized. Recycled Realizations (2017) This film was made up from discarded trailers from Hollywood movies from the early 90’s. Light Coins (2018) I made this film in collaboration with Caryn Cline and Luke Sieczek. We did this using a matte box, we each took turns shooting the coin sized mattes. Two Roll , Camera Roll (2017) I shot 2 one hundred foot rolls of outdated film from 1972, on a train ride down to Portland Oregon. The result was this film. An Optical Printer Duet (2016) I made this film with Caryn Cline. Two filmmakers, two optical printers, two direct animation strategies and 1 roll of 16mm film. Meandering (2015) Kirsten McCory is the meandering women who meanders her way through this hand painted and optically printed film. Bleach Bypass (2019) made from discarded family slides Snow Film (2019) This film was shot in one continuous take, of the snow falling onto the trees outside my home on Christmas morning 2017. Six Arms Homage to Mekas(2009) I shot this little film at the Six Arms pub on a rainy Sunday Afternoon.
